The missing ingredient…

The missing ingredient.

What is needed in order to understand and apply scientology?

High Affinity, reality and Communication.

The tone scale is an affinity scale. Descending the levels, affinity does not disappear but it manifest itself in perverted forms.

Affinity on its higher levels could be defined as empathy:

experiencing emotions that match another person’s emotions,

knowing what the other person is thinking or feeling,

to blur the line between self and others.

  • D. M. Berger: “The capacity to know emotionally what another is
experiencing from within the frame of reference of that other person,
  •  the capacity to sample the feelings of another or to put one’s self in  another’s shoes.”
  • .
  • Jean Decety: A sense of similarity in feelings experienced
  • by the self and the other, without confusion between the two individuals.
  • Nancy Eisenberg: An affective response that stems from the apprehension or
comprehension of another’s emotional state or condition, and that is
similar to what the other person is feeling or would be expected to feel.
  • Alvin Goldman: “The ability to put oneself into the mental shoes of another
person to understand her emotions and feelings.”
  • .
  • Wynn Schwartz: We recognize others as empathic when we feel that
  •  they have accurately acted on or somehow acknowledged in stated or unstated fashion
  • our values or motivations, our  knowledge, and our skills or competence,
  • but especially as they appear to the significance of our actions
  •  in a manner that we can tolerate  their being recognized.
  • .
  • Edith Stein: Empathy is the experience of foreign consciousness in general.
  • .
  • Simon Baron-Cohen  (2003): Empathy is about spontaneously
  • and naturally tuning into the other  person’s thoughts and feelings, whatever these might be
  • There are two  major elements to empathy.
  • The first is the cognitive component: Understanding
the others feelings and the ability to take their perspective […]
  • the second element to empathy is the affective component.
  • This is an observer’s appropriate emotional response to another person’s emotional state.

The lack of sufficient affinity, reality and communication

will hinder true understanding.

After all ARC equal understanding.

A  low tone person will not have enough Affinity to be the pc,

the friend, the guy or the girl they have to deal with.

He/she will misjudge them, while being sure to really know them.

The same thing it happens with the technology.

A low affinity person will not have enough ARC to understand the tech. and will turn a technology

aim to the respect and freedom of others into a business called ‘$cientology’ or ‘slaveology.”

‘THE ELEMENTS with stress on how to run matched terminals 25 March 1953

by L. Ron Hubbard

“Any thinker in any age, any one of the great teachers

has recognized this very clearly:

that Man’s only smaller chance of bailing himself out of what he was in,

the only chance he had of bailing out had to do with Man

respecting Man and letting people get up off their knees.

And the six great teachers have each-

has each one of them tried to make this point clear to Man.

“…there can be one level at 40.0

where you really do get the universal solvent:

 admiration, affinity.

And for every point on the upper scale, there is an echo:
mockery point on the lower scale.

For instance, true friendship could only exist from about,
oh, maybe 2.8 up.

“Because there’s always something below 2.0 on the Tone Scale

which is a mockery and a mimicry and a pretended agreement

with something actual, high on the Tone Scale.”

“We talk about ARC and we’re always talking about affinity.

What’s affinity?

Affinity is co-beigness.

And co-beigness is only possible in
the presence of admiration and sympathy.

Now, it has to fall away from perfect co-beigness in order
to pick up individual characteristics.

The universal solvent is affinity.”

“The lower it is on the scale,

the less co-beigness is possible.“

“But if affinity was co-beigness, you wouldn’t need much
space. You really wouldn’t if you had affinity. You wouldn’t have to be able to
make very much space. It wouldn’t be very important.

“We don’t have affinity creating a boundless quantity of
space, but we have no-affinity with a tremendous insistence on lots of space.

And when a person says, “I don’t like,” he means, “I want to put space between me and it.”

“What’s communication?

Communication will be the ability to
translate sympathy or some component of sympathy from one terminal to another terminal.

That would be communication. And the most perfect communication would
be communication. That would be the
most perfect communication, you see. You’d be in the same space as the other
person, thinking the same thought, and that’s as perfect as communicating is going to get.

And the most perfect affinity you could possibly be with
anybody was to be the body. Be them.

That would be perfect affinity, you see?

But you’d really have to have perfect affinity in order to have perfect
communication and yet…

All right. And then, then we’ve got reality.

What’s perfect reality?

We’d have perfect reality as agreement, just like we’ve said all
along, because the most perfect agreement would be to be in the same space with, thinking the same thought as and feeling the same emotion as somebody else. And then you and somebody else would be actually, basically, the same person.

But there is a position on the Tone Scale where you and somebody else could be the same person and then simply on determinism be different people?

You know, be the same person, then be other people?

And then be the same person and then be two people?”

“Could you do this?

Yup. Way up. Way up on the Tone Scale.

That’s the way you do it.”

“So way up on the Tone Scale, there is no such thing as a
hidden communication or a hidden influence.

You have co-beigness, co-communication, co-agreement,
winding up in a reality with a tremendous flexibility of beigness and
determinism, tremendous loose flexibility.

A person is as happy as he can be his entire environment,

saying, “I’m not going to be that, I’m not going to be that,”

you’ve got the  stimulus-response mechanism which,

to know more about, you should study in Book  One.

I’m auditing daily on the solo’s upper levels on the OT band.

I’m very much interested, having studied over 15 years as an auditor and

having helped successfully quite few people with LRH tech

to achieve the state of Clear, and OT,

to help anyone that wish honesty

to continue toward his spiritual freedom.

We are here to help people to achieve OT.

  1. Silvia, in The Way to Happiness there is a section with a list of virtues, one of them is “Be Compassionate”. I know that you are talking about empathy but I feel compassion goes hand in hand.

TWTH says that when you are down you might want others to be compassionate, and it is so true, sometimes you don’t have to do anything else, just that simple act makes you more humane and makes the other person feel better. Yet, most Scientologists when you ask them about the virtues they say they never heard of them and look surprised.

I think that of all the virtues, compassion is the most desired in all of the religions in the world. Perhaps we should practice that more.

    Aida Thomas

    • I think compassion is the philosophy we beings have been relaxed using for Eons, Compassion is natural to beings and is one of the true virtues.

Sympathy/empathy/compassion/friendship/caring was on the radar to be annihilated ,with a ‘certainty’ that sympathy kills warfare against goodness began. NO sympathy is WHY there is so much carnage and death, it makes a a basically good being comply into being a cold heartless soldier.

There are many quotes in Scn about cruel to be kind, only the tigers survive etc, its actually the start of the indoctrinated sickening military mindset .

I recall the verse “i think we can afford a new slogan because being kind to the bank (beings) hasnt worked” LRH

Sure seems to be working for the rest of the planets population.

    • Very good point Aida THANK YOU!!
in fact in the same lectures LRH says:
““Love is a compound emotion. “ “If you want the preclear to turn on the emotion called “love,” get him to turn on sympathy and admiration in sequence. Get him to turn on sympathy for something, then admiration for something, then sympathy for something, then admiration for something. And if he gets that going, all of a sudden the sympathy and admiration will merge as an emotion and you’ll get what’s known as love.”

  2. That:
“He/she will misjudge them, while being sure to really know them.”
made me chuckle 😉 – so true!

One little story that illustrates affinity and empathy so clearly:
The grandfather just heard the bad news and was very sad – his little grand daughter curling up on his lap. – What are you doing? – Helping you cry!

  3. Silvia- I love this blog. I feel it just opened me up to a side of LRH I never saw. Really beautiful. This is where the Yogi’s talk about co-beingness and compassion. Its amazingly beautiful.

Corporate Scientology has lost that so much. Its sad.

I really loved this article. Very true and inspiring.

    Thank you for being there.

    Thank you for communicating.

  4. You made me thinking about the whole matter of ARC and the tone scale. I want to thank you for sharing your thought with us, fufl of theta. Thank you for that.
