The Babel tower

 THE BABEL TOWER

.

The Tower of Babel by Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1563)

The Tower of Babel by Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1563) – The Tower of Babel (/beɪbəl/; Hebrew: מִגְדַּל בָּבֶל‎, Migdal Bavel) is a story told in the Book of Genesis of the Bible which supposes to explain the origin of different languages. According to the story, a united humanity of the generations following the Great Flood, speaking a single language and migrating from the east, came to the land of Shinar (Hebrew: שנער‎). As the King James version of the Bible puts it: 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. 5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. 6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. 7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. 8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. 9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. —Genesis 11:4–9[1]

.

Everything started when “god”

or the ‘game maker’ gave us a mind.

.

And we suddenly or gradually forgot who we were.

Where we were going and what we were doing.

.

We actually started to feel the need to know where we came from, to find ourself or to become someone. We wanted to know where we were leading and what we needed or not needed to do.

..

And so the Babel tower stopped.

.

...

.

As soon as the spiritual mind which connected all, stopped ruling subjugated by the analytical mind, it all went from a powerful state  guided by knowingness outside time and space, to a kingdom of judgments, of egos, of right and wrong and separation.

And the Babel tower stopped when the intent died.

It died, substituted by a series of serious planning, opinions and know-best.

..

Ouspensky has a beautiful insight of the Bible.

He explained how the first few levels of men were unable to communicate due to their state of sleep.

The only thing alive in them it was the mind

which individualizing and dividing stopped the works.

.

...

.

But as soon as the spiritual mind regains ground

through awakening and self- remembering,

things starts to make sense again.

Understanding becomes instant and a normal routine.

.

And so is our spiritual group here at the ranch.

.

We are all connected to the same knowingness until we start bringing our knowingness into the realm of thought and magically our paths diverge.

In this illusion we have an appearance of disagreement,

but it is not us having disagreements.

It is our minds.

And again, self-remembering and stopping identification with the minds, brings thing back to the right prospective.

  • Commentaries on Living

The idealist is the man with an idea, and it is he who is not revolutionary. Ideas divide, and separation is disintegration, it is not revolution at all. The man with an ideology is concerned with ideas, words, and not with direct action; he avoids direct action. An ideology is a hindrance to direct action.

OUSPENSKY from THE FOURTH WAY

“A certain illusion of control is provided in life by ordinary education, but if
circumstances change it all disappears.

(…)what is the chief thing that is holding me back from
escaping?

A. Mechanicalness. In yourself things continue to ‘happen’—things over which you should have control, but you have not acquired control.

There are things in us which can and should be mechanical, such as physiological processes and things like that,
and there are other things over which we must acquire as much control as we can, because they keep us from awakening.

You do not realize to what an extent one thing in us is connected with another.

Everything is connected. You cannot do, or say, or even think anything out of the general line of things that happen.

A teacher cannot ‘do’ anything for you. You are given certain tasks and you have to do them.

..

People often ask: ‘How is it that I have been working so many years and have had no experience of higher centres yet?’ And I ask them: ‘Have you really been working so many years?’

One counts from the time one has heard these ideas, but one does not try to calculate how much one actually worked—how many days, how many hours or minutes in each day.

If one makes this calculation, one will see that there is no reason to expect any results yet, although one may have heard about it a long time ago.

It is necessary to put more energy into things—into self study, self-observation, self-remembering and all that.

What does it mean to work practically? It means to work not only on intellect but also on emotions and on will. Work on intellect means thinking in a new way, creating new points of view, destroying illusions. Work on emotions means not expressing negative emotions, not identifying, not considering and, later on, also work on the emotions themselves. But what does work on will mean? It means work on one’s actions.

First you must ask yourselves: What is will in men No. 1, 2 and 3? It is the resultant of desires. Will is the line of combined desires, and as our desires constantly change, we have no permanent line. So ordinary will depends on desires and we can have many desires going in different directions. The line constructed out of all these angles is the resultant.

This is our will. It may go in one direction one day and in another direction another day, and we think it is straight. So it is really the resultant of our blindness. We have to ask ourselves on what the will of man No. 7 could be based. It must be based on full consciousness, and this implies knowledge and understanding connected with objective consciousness and a permanent ‘I’. So three things are necessary: knowledge, consciousness and a permanent ‘I’.

Only those people who have these three things can have real will; that means a will that is independent of desires or anything else.

SPIRITUAL TEAMS…

With no judgment, a true friend will remind you of your true aim, your path whenever you need that.

"Sometimes you just need someone who reminds you how unimportant is if you laugh or cry, if you win or lose... the true question is: -Are you moving on your path?- Are you working on self remembering?- Nothing else really matters as it is all an illusion."

“Sometimes you just need someone to remind you how unimportant is if you laugh or cry, if you win or lose… The true question is: -Are you moving on your path?- Are you working on self remembering?- Nothing else really matters as it is all an illusion.”

.

One of my cohorts was here at the Spiritual Center for over a month.

It has been a very beautiful experience growing wise.

He has seen me crying, and he had perceived my pain.

.

I purposely did not want to hide it from him,

I wanted him to see that while

you shed yourself from the agreements

which keeps you part of this illusion

you are finding yourself face to face, with all kind of emotions.

You enter in a level where you are open to the truth.

And truth is many time unpalatable to who still subjugated by the analitical – rational mind.

.

I wanted him to see, that when in extreme pain,

I do too, forget to self remember.

I too struggle to make the next step.

.

But in my struggle, even if it feels as a slow drowning something is happening.

I wanted him to see it,

because he too, soon or later

will find himself exhausted at a similar point.

.

You are escaping a prison, and while running out and

till you are completely out you cannot afford to

stop and medicate your wounds.

.

The fact that you hurt your wrist digging,

you broke your foot jumping from the prison,

it is for no reason to take it as a failure.

You have to keep self remembering to remind yourself that now that you are down into the river

you have to swim a bit longer to get to the other side and enjoy your freedom.

But at times things can get confusing, deceiving, so hard and painful  that the hand of a friend can be the best blessing of all.

.

People on the true path, with an un-bendable intent

know how important is to keep awakening each other.

.

" In the first line of work you take—knowledge, ideas, help. This line concerns only yourself, it is entirely egocentric. On the second line one must not only take but also give— communicate knowledge and ideas, serve as an example and many other things. It concerns people in the work, so on this line one works half for oneself and half for other people. On the third line one must think of the work in general, about the school or the organization as a whole. One must think about what is useful, what is necessary for the school, what the school needs, so the third line concerns the whole idea of school and all the present and the future of the work. … There are two conditions in the work with which one must begin, the first, that one must not believe anything, one must verify everything, the second, an even more important condition, refers to doing One must not do anything until one understands why one does it and for what purpose." .♣.

.

I told many times, to many people they do not need a group,

they should stay away from any groups the way the mind defines them.

.

But they need a trusted hand to pull them up when the fall is too severe.

To wake them up when they fall aleep.

.

They need to be there for eachother when life hits so bad you start thinking you hurt. When life is so good that all you wish to do is to enjoy it in its fullness.

At that moment it is time to wake up again to the truth.

To the illusion.

And at this time we need to be there for eachother.

“THE FOURTH WAY by Ouspensky”

.♣.

(277) Certainly, it you remain by yourself you will forget the things you learn because there are so many momentums in us that things just disappear from our mind.

That is why a man cannot work alone and only the combined work of many people together can produce the necessary results.

There are many obstacles, many factors which keep us asleep and make it impossible for us to awake.

Things WE learn will just disappear if nothing helps them, and what can help them?

Only other people around.

(279) Organization of groups of people not only for discussing things but also for working together, as, for instance, in the garden, in the house or on the farm, or doing some other work that can be organized and started.

When people work together at anything for the sake of experience, they begin to see in themselves and in other people different things which they do not notice when they just discuss.”
